Spooner Lake

Spooner Lake continues to blow me away.  87% of the anglers or 12 of the 15, caught a 5 bass limit.  Of those limits the smallest was 12.34 lbs.  That weight would have won more than 50% of our club tournaments over the last 5 years.  70 bass were caught weighing 210.72 lbs.  This is the second highest weight total we have ever had.  We averaged 4.7 per angler with an average weight of 14.05 lbs, which is a 3.01 average bass.  OVER 3 LBS FOR THE AVERAGE!  Erv Ericksen bagged a 20.25 lb limit anchored by a 5.39 hog.  Second place went to Randy Grinnell with 17.48 lbs.  Joe Bolder had big bass with a 5.85 largemouth.  Great tournament.  NO DEAD FISH!

May 10
Beaver Dam Lake

Beaver Dam seemed to be feast or famine.  The feasters included relative new comer Jack BArron with a 16.67 lb limit anchored by a 5. 28 lb big bass.  This is the third 5lber we have weighed in just the first two tournaments.  Randy Grinnell nabbed 2nd place again with a 14.85 limit.  55 bass were caught for a 122.95 lbs.  There were also 8 limits today despite what seemed like a tough bite.  The brownies were not cooperating like we thought they should.  Again, no dead fish.

June 7
Clam Lake

Clam lake may have been affected by the weather but a few angler figured the fish out.  Brent Lindus won with a limit weighing 13.43 lbs.  His bag was anchored by big bass for the tournament, which was a 3.48 bass.  Josh Hauge was second with 11.16 lbs.  He went the opposite direction of Brent to bag his limit.  The only other limit was Ernie Walters.  16 anglers combined to catch 4 bass weighing 89.77 lbs. Again, only 3 limits and 2 skunks.  No dead fihs at the scales again.  Next up is the state tournament in LaCrosse.

July 25
Chippewa Flowage

The Chippewa Flowage threw all kinds of weather at everyone. Rain, wind, hot , cold, whatever.  Fish were scattered but the club anglers found them.  John Peterson won with a 5 bass limit weighing 14.12 lbs.  He edged out Josh Pingel who had a 5 bass limit weighing 13.75 lbs.  52 bass were caught weighing in at 117.95 lbs.  Brent Lindus had the daily big bass with a 4.07 lb. toad.

July 26
Nelson Lake

Nelson Lake completed day two of our Hayward weekend.  It was fun to have such a big group of family and friends together.  These are things my kids talk about and trust others made some memories as well.  I personally enjoy the back-2-back tournaments best.  The fish did not disappoint either.  Josh Pingel finished his hot weekend with a win bringing a limit weighing 13.46 lbs with a 4.78 lb kicker.  Nice weekend Pingel (1st & 2nd).  Joe Bolder narrowly missed the win with a 13.18 limit of bass.  62 bass were caught weighing 141.24 lbs.  So two great lake with over 250 lbs of bass.  No dead fish again.

August 23
Yellow Lake

Well, 6th tournament of the year, and our 6th winner.  Wayne "The Hag" Haglund no-boated his way to a 14.50 lb limit of dock busters.  He anchored his bag with the big bass of the day at 4.09 lbs.  Josh Pingel, AKA The Boater to Wayne, came in second with a 5 bass limit weighing 13.84 lbs.  Yellow was of fire this day as 14 anglers caught 66 bass weighing 162.49 lbs.  In other words, 13 of the 14 anglers had a 5 bass limit and these limits were all over 10 lbs.  This is the third tournament in a row that was won by less than 1 lb.  We have not had a run like this since the summer of 05' when we had 4 in a row.  Odds are with the St. Croix river up next we may have our 4th in a row.  We will see if Rick Lindus can continue his undefeated streak on "The Croix".
